Grant Featherston was an Australian furniture designer whose chair designs in the 1950s became icons of the Atomic Age. His once ubiquitous pieces have now become highly collectable and attain high prices at auction.
In 2018, we began working with Geoff Isaac, a Featherston aficionado, who had written a history of the designer and had begun a Kickstarter campaign to fund publishing of his book.
The design concept for this impressive 300-page monograph was based around large scale, close-up photographs of the iconic furniture pieces, alongside Featherston’s sketches and other archival material. Geoff’s Kickstarter campaign was oversubscribed long before publication – however, on seeing the finished layouts, publisher Thames and Hudson were impressed enough to take on publication themselves!
