Symm & Co. was a renowned construction company that had had a continuous presence in Oxford since the reign of King George III, and a building and decorating history stretching back over 200 years. Founded in 1815, the company included in its portfolio many of Oxford’s landmark buildings – Oxford University Press, Exeter College Chapel, the Pitt Rivers Museum to name a few – and over two centuries had forged a reputation for excellence in building, restoration, and expert craftsmanship.
We worked with Symm for many years, developing branding, marketing materials, and advertising. In 2015 we developed a campaign to celebrate Symm’s 200th birthday which was marked with a concertina-fold brochure featuring a key project from every decade of the company’s existence.
In early 2020 Symm went into administration as a result of extremely difficult trading conditions – a hugely sad loss for Oxford and the building trade!
